How can imperfect measurements constrain the physical quantities we want to understand? This block connects scientific questions, models, probability, and linear algebra to real data.
Lecture 13 · Measurements, probability, and geometry¶

Begin with a transit and the light recorded by a detector. Use a forward model, measurement uncertainty, and the geometry of data to connect a light curve to physical quantities. The lecture introduces expectations, dependence, covariance, correlation, the central limit theorem, vectors, and matrices.
