Course Technology & Submission Path

COMP 521 | Set up once, use throughout the course

San Diego State University

Your job is to make one dependable path from a local analysis to a visible, reproducible project submission. Do the steps in this order; return to the linked reference when something breaks.

  1. Install and verify the course software.

  2. Learn the small set of terminal commands needed to navigate, run programs, and inspect files.

  3. Set up Git and GitHub so that your project repository is yours and your work is backed up. Follow the current project brief and Canvas assignment for repository setup; Classroom50 may distribute an individual repository.

  4. Follow the Projects page for the repository, notebook, evidence, and submission requirements of the current project.

  5. Before every final push, use Restart Kernel and Run All Cells and then commit and push the resulting clean notebook.

The Getting Started library explains the tools in detail. The Projects page—not this orientation page—owns the submission contract.
